1. Check heat and the equipment instructions
A fireplace installation needs the fireplace and television requirements checked together. Do not assume a mantel protects every TV from heat. If the permitted conditions cannot be met, choose another location.
2. Test the height from the sofa
Outline the TV above the mantel and sit in your normal position. A visually centered screen can still be too high for comfortable viewing. A tilting bracket changes angle; it does not lower the screen.
3. Identify support behind the finish
Tile, stone, shiplap and brick each conceal different possible constructions. Determine how the load will be carried before choosing hardware. A decorative face is not automatically a suitable attachment surface.
4. Check the complete movement
If considering a pull-down or extending mount, verify compatibility, the required clearances and its permitted use near the fireplace. Check the TV and soundbar through the intended travel without assuming the fireplace can be operating in every position.
5. Plan power and source cables
The fireplace structure can limit cable routes. Do not run ordinary power cords inside the wall or drill blindly where flues, services or other concealed elements may be present. Settle the route and electrical requirements before the final TV position.
6. Leave room for maintenance
Allow access to connections and mount release hardware. Keep ventilation spaces clear and plan safe removal of a large TV later.
