Test the view from your pillows
A bedroom TV should suit your supported viewing posture. Arrange the pillows as you normally use them and look toward the proposed wall without lifting your chin. A position that works from the doorway can feel awkward from bed. Check both sides of a shared bed and account for blankets or a tall footboard blocking the lower screen.
Choose movement for a reason
A fixed bracket works when the screen faces the bed directly and the height already feels comfortable. A tilting bracket can help aim a higher screen toward the bed. A full-motion bracket may suit an offset wall or a room where the TV also serves a chair, but its swing must clear wardrobes, doors and the walkway.
Measure the space the TV occupies when extended as well as when folded away. Keep the mount's release mechanism reachable. A screen packed tightly above a dresser may be difficult to service even if it appears to fit.
Plan for a calm, usable room
- Check reflections from bedside lamps and windows at the time you usually watch.
- Keep the television and accessories clear of vents and radiator heat.
- Choose where the streaming device and remote will live.
- Plan power and signal cables before choosing the final bracket position.
Use a taped outline to check scale and height before any holes are made. If you rent, confirm permission for the wall attachment and any cable openings. An external cord cover can be easier to plan than an in-wall route, although it can still leave marks when removed.
