There are two separate connections
One set of hardware attaches the mounting rails to the television. Another attaches the wall plate to the supporting construction. They are not interchangeable. The television model determines its rear attachment requirements; the mount and wall determine the structural fasteners.
TV-side screws
Check the manual for the required thread and permitted engagement depth. Include the thickness of the bracket and specified spacers when determining overall length. Universal hardware kits offer several choices because different televisions need different combinations, not because any included screw will work.
Wall-side fasteners
A wood-stud installation may use a manufacturer-specified lag screw arrangement. Concrete or suitable masonry may require a different approved fastening system. Metal studs need a solution compatible with the framing and mount. Do not transfer a fastener recommendation between these wall types.
Drywall, plaster, tile and decorative panels can conceal the structure behind them. The visible finish alone does not establish where or how the wall plate should be supported.
Use the specified installation method
Pilot-hole dimensions, embedment, edge distances and tightening instructions are specific to the fastener and substrate. A generic drill-size table is not enough to specify a safe installation. Follow the complete instructions and investigate uncertain construction before drilling.
For an assessment, provide the TV model, bracket model and photos of the wall. If an old bracket is already mounted, include clear photos of its label and attachment points. That gives the installer a basis to decide whether the hardware can be reused or should be replaced.
