A fireplace installation with a lowering mount

This San Jose project placed a 77″ LG television above a fireplace using a pull-down wall mount. The bracket adds vertical movement to an installation where the television’s resting position is above the mantel.

A pull-down mount changes the screen’s height as it moves. That makes it a different option from a tilting bracket, which changes the angle of the screen while leaving its center at essentially the same height.

Plan for both the resting and lowered positions

For a similar installation, we need the television and mount model numbers, mantel dimensions and a wide photograph of the fireplace. The lowered screen needs a clear movement path, and any soundbar must be included in the dimensions and load being assessed.

The photograph documents this completed installation; the useful travel and required clearances for another project come from its particular bracket, TV and fireplace. Heat requirements and the fireplace manufacturer’s instructions remain part of that assessment.
